Office Cleaning Tips

Cleaning an office may seem like a large task, and it is, but it is a task that you can accomplish with a proven process. You use organized action when you work, and organized actions work when you clean.

Begin with the things that you don't need. Grab trash bins, waste baskets, and recycling receptacles, and eliminate all the items that aren't necessary in the office.

You will notice that personal items often clutter an office, so you will want to relocate them, also, to a home rather than an office.

Once your trash and you misplaced personal belongings are all where they need to be, move on. Go to the file cabinets, where you are sure to find many space wasters of files that are no long necessary. Shred or burn these papers to protect the information but get rid of them.

Look at everything on and inside a desk. Let no piece of trash escape unchucked. Everything that doesn't need to be in the office must be out of the office because it hampers productivity.

Once all trash, recycle, and shred items are off the agenda, it is time to organize. Place all papers, folders, and notes where they need to be, and make sure you take no shortcuts in organizing and end up where you began.

With damp cloths and manufactured cleaners, clean all the office technology. Computers, copiers, keyboards, mice, fax machines, and phones should be cleaned and sanitized. Cabinet interiors should also be cleaned.

Dust the cubicle partitions and the chairs, and clean up any residue dirt. Vacuum the surrounding area.

The desktop will need to have coffee and other drink stains removed. Food items and dishes must be moved to the break room. The desk should be organized to allow work to be performed efficiently. More trash may be discovered as you organize now. Throw everything unnecessary. Don't keep any items you know you will not use in the long run.

Wipe all photo frames, bookshelves, awards, and surfaces should be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Any other surfaces should be eradicated of clutter and dirt as well.

Mop the floors where appropriate. Your office should be fairly clean. The office also wasn't always dirty, so to keep it clean, follow this process every day as you work.

You handle paperwork everyday. Try to handle only one time and take action on it, or be sure that if it is a necessary file it is in an in box and not sitting on my your desk.

Try to not even have an out box. Deliver all your messages or have them delivered immediately. File things away if they can wait. Trash anything that is not important.

If you find that this new method of compulsory organization has you up and at the recycle and the trash often, try to take the trash items and recyclables when you throw out the old coffee you will never drink or the lunch that you are done with. You aren't going to need two bites of a hoagie later, so go ahead and keep trash items.

Keep yourself organized.
