Party Bags

Goodie bags are a must at most parties and kids love them! However in this “consume me” age, party bags are all too often a dismal disappointment. When children come home from a party, what as parents’ do we expect the little darlings to bring home with them? The inevitable squashed piece of cake, the toy that’s broken before it has been played with and globules of flattened candy with hairs stuck to then. After a successful and thoroughly enjoyable party, is that the kind of thank you gift that you would like your child to receive or give for that matter? The contents of my children’s party bags are automatically dumped on a convenient shelf and left, unloved and to ultimately be thrown in the dustbin. What a waste!

The added pressure of keeping up with the Jones’s also tends to set parents up to think of the best party bags, which often ends up resulting in more plastic waste, raising budgets and added stress. The additional stress of getting the party bag right continues as you forget to factor in the time and mental effort required in filling and storing them, not to mention, hiding them from your already over excited child. The mother and the mother in law descend on you to help, and you feel like this potentially joyous occasion is no longer any fun for you.

Now, however, with a little forethought the problem of party bags is easily solved. Now an abundance of small imaginative online companies provide simple ways to incorporate creative items in to your party bags that will go a long way to making a difference to this feeling of oppression. Being such a competitive market, their costs are very reasonable and won’t damage your budget.

These companies know their target market and offer a range of party bag options accordingly. Allowing you to tailor your party bags to you own little darlings’, friends, likes and dislikes. They cater for both boy and girl options together with providing a range of target age group party bags. Making sure that the resulting party bag is appropriate and fun for its recipient.

As for the (really, very recent), tradition of putting a slice of cake in the party bag, don’t be tempted. I know it is tempting to cut it, wrap it and pack it, but think of the recipients parents. If the children do actually eat the sticky mess, mostly stuck to the expensive fun napkin you wrapped it in, in you haste to get rid, they’ll probably consume it in the car on the way home. On top of all the finger food and excited running a piece of sticky sweet stuff is not what their tummies need, and is certainly not what their parents want. My suggestion is, be a rebel. Show off the cake, do the candles and singing and them eat it! No waiting, no wrapping, no packing, no mess! Then when the whole room of people, including the adults has had a good time, give the children their party bag as a parting gift. Pack up, put the kettle on and put your feet up with a cup of tea and a nice piece of party cake.

Buying Party Bags
For most of us, one of our fondest memories from childhood is going to our friends’ birthday parties. They weren’t anything amazing, but we still loved receiving them anyway. They were a little bit like Christmas Crackers; we all groaned at them, but secretly we’d miss them if they were gone! Nevertheless, these days, party...
