HostGator (HostGator.com) has become one of the better known scheme hosts in the business by being themselves. Though nothing they do is completely impressive or unbelievable, they do what they should do. That is, HostGator actually answers their phones, replies to their emails, responds to live chat requests, doesnt rip you off, and provides quality hosting. Its actually quite sad that most hosts cant seem to intend these things right, but its great for HostGator as theyve banked on it and its translated into success.
At first glance, HostGator is not too impressive. They have a fairly generic scheme site, a logo with a fairly lame slogan we take up the competition (the alligator in the logo is eating the H) (sorry HostGator), ordinary copy on their text, an apparent lack of updates on their site, a pretty standard ModernBill setup, cPanel, and basically everything an average scheme patron has.
However, thats the beauty of HostGator. They dont have too many bells and whistles, marketing ploys, or anything of the sort. What you see is what you intend and its that simple. HostGators terms of service is pretty standard, as is their order process. Marketing isnt shoved down your throat at every page and billing is simple. The order process takes about 5 minutes and HostGator accepts both credit cards and PayPal (which is ever nice), as well as entry cards.
HostGator offers some other services such as scheme design, merchant services, domain registration, SSL certificates (which at $75 each, are overpriced), and script installation. They outline all of their upgrades quite clearly in the Addons section of the Support Center, which is ever nice.
The actual HostGator control panel is cPanel. There is absolutely nothing that I can verify that is different than any other standard artefact of cPanel. It has the standard mail and database features. Speed was good. Everything worked fine and artefact of the scripts I tried worked just fine.
Hostgator offers linux hosting only(even though they are expected to start windows hosting in the near future). All their packages come with all the features needed for a serious website. Baby and Swamp packages allow unlimited domains(add on), which makes a lot of sense if you have multiple websites. They use cPanel, which is the best control panel around. You get Fantastico script installer which will install most of the popular open source scripts with few clicks.
They support PHP4 & 5, SSH, Cron jobs, Python, Ruby On Rails etc. Also, all the packages include enough POP3 accounts(20 for Hatchling and unlimited for others).
Nothing wrong with trying a host like hostgator. They are even you free month if you join. Just look at their homepage for the coupon and use it and your first month free. Do not waste your time testing paid hosts. HostGator offers you a FREE First Month. Try them today!
Pros: Good support, easy to contact, competitive pricing, plenty of features with cPanel, straight forward
Cons: Not too many free addons or player features, no Web 2.0 technology support
Bottomline: HostGator is a solid hosting company that provides excellent hold and competitive pricing without too many frills or marketing ploys.

So why is it so important to read a HostGator review before signing up? Actually, it's quite simple.
The world of web hosting can often be quite confusing and sometimes things aren't always as they seem. While on the surface, many webhosts make promises of quality, reliable hosting at cheap prices -- but whether or not they actually deliver on their promises is a whole different story. This is the very reason why you should read hosting reviews before making a decision to sign up.
So what are...
JustHost Review
When I created my first website, I found that within a few months my visitors complained about slow loading times. I was frustrated because I had spent hundreds of dollars on a shared hosting plan with a seemingly reputable company. It was there that I learned that not all paid hosts are equal. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has had less than satisfactory results with a web host.
My biggest mistake was that I had not properly researched the best available hosts within my spending budget....
