If you are just starting out playing the guitar I encourage you to buy a cheap one. Now when I use the word cheap, I'm not talking about getting a piece of junk. What I'm saying is you can get a very nice guitar without having to spend 100's of dollars. What are some of the things to look for if you want to buy cheap guitars? Buy Cheap Guitars - Whats Your Price Range? (You don't have to spend a lot to be satisfied) One of the first things to consider when looking to buy cheap guitars is PRICE. It always starts with the money. So lets get this beast out of the way. It is really pretty simple. If you have $100 to spend, that's it, shop in that price range. If you can spend $400. great, you can own a guitar that will perform for a long time. Don't feel bad if you can only spend $100. Its perfectly fine to start there. You can always upgrade down the road. You don't want to go into debt or have buyers remorse. If it is possible I would try and spend around $200 to $300. You will notice better sound quality and craftsmanship once you get near the $200 range. You can own good quality cheap guitars in this range. If $100 is your limit, do the research and find whats most popular for that price. You may be thinking, "why not buy used?" You want to be sure that your first guitar is going to perform well. Plus you get a warranty. Unless you really know your guitars, buying a used one can be tricky. Buy Cheap Guitars - Sound and Comfort (Buy a guitar that feels good and sounds sweet) If you have spent any time at all holding and playing guitars, whether it be cheap acoustic guitars or cheap-electric-guitars you know there is a big difference from one model to the next. I remember playing a certain guitar based solely on how it looked. Luckily I was just borrowing it. I was so busy being in awe on how pretty it was, that I neglected the practical. Things like, how it felt holding it, whether standing up or sitting down. Was it comfortable, well balanced? How was the action as I went up and down the neck? Was the sound really what I was looking for? These are the things that really matter when your researching guitars. How it looks is one of the last things to consider. Now in saying that, most guitars look pretty sharp and it will not be hard finding one that covers all the bases. But be sure you are happy with the way it feels and plays. There is nothing worse than buying a guitar on a whim only to find out it's not really what you wanted. What will end up happening is you will simply stop practicing. And that's not good. Buy Cheap Guitars - What Are People Buying? (Go where the people are, there is a reason) The first thing you want to do is go to your local music shop and try out several guitars. If this is your very first guitar, think about picking up a 3/4 classical with nylon strings. The strings are easier on your fingers and at the same time you will develop strength holding down the strings. Even if you want to play the electric guitar or cheap bass guitars for that matter, start with the acoustic. I promise you, you will be glad in the long run. Once you have a basic idea of what you want, its time to do some home work. Get on the Internet and research review sites and stores that rate their guitars. One thing for sure you will not be lacking options. Comb over these sites and see which guitars pop up more than the others. This may take some time but its a great way to narrow your choices. (Also I would buy on-line, you will get better prices and super fast free shipping in most cases.)
