Making the Pendulum You can buy a pre made pendulum from most specialty stores, but you can also make one easily at home. Technically speaking, a pendulum can be made from just about anything. It just needs to be something weighted, suspending from a rope, string, or ribbon. The weighted portion is commonly made of copper, glass, wood, or copper. The string is usually made from cotton, metal, or silk. Just make sure the string is very flexible. Successful Pendulum Readings To perform a successful pendulum reading, you need to be completely relaxed. Force yourself into tranquility. Even though this may be the hardest part, it is also the most important. Your mind will influence the pendulum if it is not cleared completely. An easy trick to do this is to keep asking a non-sensical question that you have nothing invested in. Training the Pendulum Sit with your feet uncrossed on the floor, resting your elbow on a table. This enables the arm to be steady and supported. Turn off all ambient noise as this is an unnecessary distraction. Ask very easy yes or no questions with your eyes closed. Easy ones, like "is my name John Doe?" or "am I a male?" Plain, straight forward questions are the only way to train the pendulum. You also designate direction by doing this. If you are in fact a male, and it swings in a clockwise motion, that is now a "yes" answer. Do this many times, let your subconscious do the swinging, don't force it in any way. Using the Pendulum On Others Now that you have trained your pendulum, you can start using it to answer other people's questions. To do this, have them lay down on their back with their arms to their side and their legs pointed straight. This will center the chakra and enable a more precise reading. Hold the pendulum over the center of their chakra, located in the direct center of the chest. Have them ask the question one time, and then let the pendulum do the answering. If they ask you a question that you have an interest in, do your best to clear your mind and not influence the answer. The vibration is like a spirit moving through you. It is said the pendulum picks up on very minute energies that a human body can not detect. If the spirit feels a negative answer, it will rotate in the corresponding direction. The most important thing to remember is to let the pendulum be, just relax and let it move wherever it wants to.
