Millions of people from all over the world who use long distance calling to communicate with friends, family, and business contacts quite often pay more than they need for these calls. As it is part of their everyday life, these types of calls cannot be avoided, but the cost of making them can be significantly reduced or even made for free.
All of these types of calls carry big charges that rapidly multiply as the time goes by. Many people do not pay close attention to the amount of calls they make, especially overseas, and can end up each month with a hefty bill. Only an hour of conversation can rack up a huge £100 or more and this added to their normal monthly bill often creates an unwelcome expense.
This type of situation causes many regular long distance callers to seek a less expensive method. Cell phones were the first alternative, callers tried. The offer of free long distance for a specifically priced bundled plan appeared to be tempting, but as time progressed and cellular providers became competitive this option was found not the cheapest method to call. Standard phone companies now offer the same priced bundled plans that cellular providers offer making it equal in price. It is just as easy to run up a cell phone bill calling long distance as it is using a standard phone.
The answer to the problem is found by seeking other and relatively new concepts such as VOIP, a technology that allows you to phone via your internet connection for free. Utilizing VOIP and software applications is relatively straight forward and certainly for those who are averse the internet will not have a problem installing VOIP. The software applications are available to be downloaded for free also, and the only charge usually associated with this form of telecommunication, which is relatively small, is a monthly cost which varies in price depending on where in the World the user wants to phone. There is not a cheaper way to get long distance calling than through the net using VoIP and various software applications and services.
VoIP services and applications such as Skype and Vonage are two such services. Many people have extremely low monthly Internet bills under £20 and make many long distance calls each month. This makes calling through the net truly the best alternative for cheap long distance calling.
