Article Marketing Strategies Writing Articles On Topics You re Unfamiliar With

When a person writes articles for article marketing, it's not necessarily a given that he will be proficient in his topic.

There are all sorts of scenarios that might require you to write articles on topics that you're not familiar with. Perhaps you're a freelance writer who has a client in a field that is totally out of your realm of expertise. Or perhaps you own one of those websites that sells lots of products, and you don't have an intimate knowledge each type of product.

If you are in the situation of needing to submit articles on a topic that is new to you, it can be a challenge, but one that you can work around.

This article will teach you 5 article marketing strategies that you can implement to help you write intelligent articles on this field that you're unfamiliar with.

1 - Do research on your new topic.

If you're a professional writer who has been hired to write on a certain topic for a client, go to his website and read every bit of information that he has posted. Ask him if he has any previous free reprint articles that he's written. That can be a good way to get a feel for your topic.

After that, search online for information on this new niche of yours.

It's alright if you're completely new to this field--you can still come up with some helpful articles. In fact, you might have a bit of an advantage in some ways, because your articles will be simple and basic--those are two things that help beginners to understand these new concepts.

2 - Hone your teaching skills.

Being a good teacher isn't about showing off how much you know. It's really about teaching your reader how to solve a problem. So, you don't have to know every last thing about your new topic. All you need to have is a teacher's mindset:

*Make it your objective to help your target readers learn something new or solve a problem.

*Experiment with different ways of teaching the same information. How the information is understood is dependent on how well it is taught.

*Take your time in explaining key concepts.

*Have compassion for your students (your readers) and what it's like to be a newbie (this should be easy for you, because you're a newbie yourself!).

*Make sure your article is extremely simple in your language and in sentence and paragraph structure.

In teaching, your goal is to be understood. Being as simple as possible helps achieve that.

3 - Focus your attention on other beginners.

Because you're a beginner yourself, you will be writing every article for others who are just starting out. You are just a few steps ahead of those you're teaching, but that's alright.

4 - Be mindful of things that confuse you.

As you're learning this new field, if you run into a topic that makes you do a double take and shake your head in confusion, that's good news! You've stumbled on a great topic for an article. If you are confused by a certain aspect of your niche, then chances are others are as well. Figure out how to do things properly, and then pass on your new found knowledge in an article.

5 - Get creative in the way you write about your topic.

As an outsider to this field that you're writing about, you have the advantage of being able to see this topic objectively. Sometimes people are so knowledgeable about their niche that they forget how their articles must look to newcomers. Sometimes, even if an article is chock full of information, it can be boring to read.

When you're writing about an unfamiliar topic, no matter what that topic is, you can make it interesting. If you are bored by your article, then chances are others will be also. Even though this niche you're writing on is not really your cup of tea, write the article in a way that you find interesting.

Writing articles on topics that are outside of you area of interest or expertise can be intimidating, but this can be a great opportunity to expand your knowledge and stretch your writing skills. Just use the tips above, and you can even write articles that are more helpful and interesting than those written by veterans to that field!
