People are using terminology that you aren't sure about, and you feel like a tourist in a foreign country whose brain is getting scrambled listening to the conversations of the natives. If this is you, relax for a minute. Read this article, and let me give you some reassurance. Tip #1: Every person who looks like they know what they're doing in this field was at one time a beginner and standing in your shoes. You may be looking at people who have been at this for years--don't expect yourself to achieve the same status overnight. People accumulate knowledge over time. Just don't rush it and don't put too much pressure on yourself. It helps not to compare yourself with anyone else, because you are a unique person. You might catch on faster than them. Or it might take you a little longer--that part doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that you progress at your own pace. Tip #2: Being a beginner is a great place to be. You are a clean slate. You don't have any bad habits. You are like a sponge soaking up all of this information. Everything is fresh to you, and you've still got some natural passion and excitement going. The most exciting part of a journey is the first steps. Don't be in too big a hurry to get past this phase, because there are some great perks to being a beginner. Tip #3: You're going to mess up, and that's okay. For some reason we get it into our heads that we should be able to take everything in this new field in, process it in a matter of hours or days, and then execute it perfectly without missing a beat. That's just not the way anything works. Whenever you start learning a new skill, you will mess up more than at any other time. Messing up is not a bad thing, though. Think of an archer--every time an archer aims for the target and misses, he makes a correction, moving a little to the right, left, up or down. He may miss several times, each time making a slight correction to his stance and his aim. Only by first missing the target can he figure out what works and what doesn't work. Every time he makes a mistake, it creates an opportunity for him to build his skill. This would not be possible if he miraculously hit the center of the target each time. It works the same way with you and article marketing--you will make mistakes, and that's okay. Just make the correction as best you can, and try again. Each time you do this you will be building your skill. Tip #4: Don't try to compete with the big wigs--learn from them. Your job as a beginner is to learn, rather than to compete with others. It's sort of like getting into a pool with Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps--don't expect to beat him in a race. If you go in with that expectation, you're going to be disappointed in yourself. Instead, watch what the veterans in this field are doing and learn from them. Don't beat yourself up for not being as advanced as they are. Take your place as a student, and soak up all you can. Tip #5: I keep this quote from Benjamin Disraeli beside my desk: "The secret to success is constancy of purpose." This is a life principle: You will get better at any activity that you do consistently. In article marketing, being consistent means taking the time to write quality articles each month. It means sticking with it over the long term. Over that time you might not notice your improvements, but if you have constancy of purpose, you will succeed. I hope this little pep talk has helped put things into perspective for you. Too much pressure is put on beginners to immediately go full throttle in this field that is brand new to them. Don't get caught up in that--it's not realistic and it will only lead to discouragement. Instead, enjoy being a beginner. Everyone starts out as a beginner, and if you keep on plugging away and don't give up, you can advance beyond the beginner phase too.
