What Is Your Key Role In Internet Marketing





Internet marketing today has become a comprehensive discipline that can include hundreds of different smaller tasks ranging from web design to customer service, but this article is going to focus solely on the "marketing" aspect of internet marketing and determining what your key role needs to be. The most important role that an internet marketing campaign has for your company or website is the same as the role that traditional offline marketing has, which is to influence a person's buying decision towards your brand.

Especially if your own website or company offers more than one product, you will want to influence another person's buying decision not just towards your own product but towards your own brand in general. Out of all the other competing businesses and companies out there, you want your internet marketing campaign to give your own business a slight competitive advantage so that customers who are already in the market to buy a particular product will be more likely to buy from you instead of one of your competitors.

So if we ignore the sales side of internet marketing for a moment, we see that the overall objective is to simply change other people's opinions slightly so that your own website and your own business are perceived to be slightly more favorable than any of your other competitors. When you can use your marketing efforts to accomplish this, you will make yourself look like the market leader in the eyes of your potential buyers and this small advantage can create a tremendous impact on the final number of people that are willing to trust you enough to make a purchase.

Another way that you can understand your most important key role in a different context is to imagine that you are in a marathon race with all of the other competing companies and websites in your same industry, and the first place winner in the race gets ten times the prize money as everyone else. There can only be one first place winner in the race, but regardless of whether you win by an inch or by a mile you will still be the first place winner and earn ten times the prize money. Does this mean that you are ten times better or ten times faster than all the other companies?

No, it means that you only need to be fractionally or marginally better in order to receive ten times the benefits. So in your internet marketing, this means that if you can use your marketing campaign to make customers believe that you are just a little bit more reliable and a little bit more trustworthy than any other company in your industry, you can influence their buying decisions and receive many times the amount of sales. So by remembering that your key role in internet marketing is to influence the buying decisions of other people so that you are perceived as the market leader, you can experience vastly more financial success and sales than any of your competitors.
