If you are the same as many families you are likely to have hundreds of pictures all over your home, stored away in drawers, boxes, and photo books. Even if you have your photos safely stashed, you probably do not look at them and appreciate them as much as you should. Instead of simply storing these precious pictures out of sight, why not use them to create an attractive photo memory wall in your home? If you would like your photo wall to look as great as those you see in your good friend's homes, just stick to the tips below. Selecting the Right Wall Selecting the perfect wall to display your photos in the greatest way possible is a crucial part of the process. You will most likely want to choose a wall that will be big enough to provide you with lots of room for your pictures. Choosing a prominent location can also be a great way to ensure that your photos get the attention that they deserve. A family area wall, hallway wall, or even a living room wall may all be great places. Try to steer clear of walls that get a good deal of sunlight, as this might cause your pictures to fade. Choosing Your Pictures Since most families have a very wide selection of pictures, sometimes they may have a hard time picking the pictures for the wall. If you want to find good pictures for your wall, you might want to begin with a look through your family albums as well as the school picture frames around your house. As a matter of fact, even if some of your pictures already are in frames, you may want to think of adding them to your wall. In many cases, if a photo was special enough to put in a frame in the first place, you may be assured that it will be a good addition to your photo wall. If any of the pictures you select are delicate or vintage, you might choose to scan and print copies of them to display on the wall. After all, you certainly would not want an irreplaceable original to become damaged. Deciding On the Right Photo Frames Picking just the right picture frame to display your photos to their greatest advantage is also an important part of the procedure. If you want the wall to look more formal, it might be nice to pick frames that coordinate or look similar in some way. Then again, if you are trying for a more casual and contemporary look, you can feel free to use whichever frames appeal to you the most. Creating the Wall Design Sometimes it is hard to determine the best wall design. Try planning your arrangement on the floor before you put holes in the wall that you do not need to. Just employ masking tape or some painters tape to measure out a portion of the floor to the basic measurements of the wall. Then you may move around the pictures in this area until you determine an arrangement that is just right. Or you may making the job even simpler by cutting out some wrapping paper and taping it together to mimic the same dimensions and shape as the wall. Put your pictures in the order you want on the paper, and then use a pencil and trace around the outer edge of the frames. Then all you have to do is tape that paper up onto the wall and use it to guide you. Then gently hammer the nails directly through the paper, straight into the wall. Then, just remove the paper so you can hang up the photos in the correct positions on the very first try. So now there is nothing to keep you from beginning your perfect wall photo layout right now!
