File Bankruptcy Just By Myself

Too many of us think about bankruptcy as a sign of weakness and often people who have to go through the experience of filing bankruptcy are ashamed of it. But the truth of the matter is, according to statistics people who file bankruptcy had reasons like divorce, job lay off, unexpected events or accidents, huge medical and hospital bills. Most of these reasons are events that are out of the hands of the person concerned. That person has no control over the situation and therefore must find a way to break the chains that burden him which are his debts.

Bankruptcy is a chance to start a new financial life. Just imagine that without bankruptcy, millions of people will be working not for themselves but for their creditors, and just to pay off their debts, some might even be working all of their life.

Out of control, events can lead to unmanageable debts which can make us a slave for the rest of our lives. If bankruptcy is the only way out, how can I file bankruptcy just by myself? There are many ways we can file bankruptcy just by ourselves but first, we need to know what types of bankruptcy are available for us.

I can file bankruptcy just by myself either by filing a chapter 7 or a chapter 13. If you have an income that is considered as below average according to the state that you live in, more likely you can file for a chapter 7 type of bankruptcy which can eliminate your debts quickly. The only thing you need to do is give up your property to be liquidated; not all of your property will be sold; you can still keep some properties that are exempt from the liquidation. The other type of bankruptcy is chapter 13 which is a reorganization or repayment plan usually provided by a credit counseling agency. It is required by the new bankruptcy law to attend credit counseling session also provided by these types of agencies.

No matter which type of bankruptcy you are qualified to file for, there are still ways you can do it by yourself inexpensively. All you need to do is hire a petition preparer or a bankruptcy lawyer to prepare your papers. That is the most affordable and easiest way to file bankruptcy. You just pay them their flat fee for the work and you can do all the rest by yourself. This way, you do not need to have a headache filling out those forms that have the risk of you making a mistake and even losing additional assets.
