How To Get Maximum Retention From Your Downline

You can't build a network marketing business without building relationships first. It has always been and always will be about relationships. Many companies have come into this industry and exploded because they had a revolutionary product. But often, their businesses died just as quickly because they didn't care enough about their people.

Retention is the one and only key to making a lifetime of residual income. You can't build this business by putting 100 people in at the start of the year and only having 6 left at the end of the year, that's not sustainable.

With every single person you sponsor, you must have the mindset that they are going to be your business partners/associates forever. And that means becoming good friends with your prospect.

Most network marketers don't get this, because they are just so desparate to sponsor anybody they can or they want to fill up their matrix as fast as they can. As a result, they end up in most cases sponsoring the wrong people.

The beautiful thing about network marketing is that we can choose who we want to sponsor and work with. We can avoid all of the pathetic politics in the corporate world because we don't have to work with anybody who we don't like.

In my opinion, you HAVE TO work with people you like. As my mentors always say, you can only succeed when you're working with people who you would want to go on a one-month cruise with. If you don't, your life is going to suck. So you have to become friends with your prospects. And you have to take the time to develop these friendships.

As an example, my sponsor was in communication with me for about 8 months before I decided to join him. During that 8 months, he coached me and helped me to build the business that I was in at the time. He plugged me into his training system. We became good friends, but it was 8 months before I made the decision that joining him was the best choice for my future.

I can hear you saying "but I don't want to wait 8 months before someone decides to join me in my business, I want people NOW!" I know, I know. But let me ask you this: Would you rather talk to 20 people for 8 months and retain them forever, or would you rather try to outsponsor your attrition on an ongoing basis? If you're a person with common sense, you would prefer the former.

So what is friendship and why is it so important? Is it just a relationship between two people? Is it a connection between people with a something in common? Yes, it's that and more.

People want to belong. People want to feel loved. In the modern world we live in, people are living quite lives of desparation because they have lost their sense of connectedness. There's no one for them to turn to, no shoulder to cry on. But they are looking, and that's good news for you because you have endless opportunities to connect with them.

So how do you become friends?

Friendships are built on layers. Having common interest in network marketing is not strong enough to maintain a friendship. Friendships go much deeper than that.

You become friends by picking up the phone and calling the leads that your marketing system has generated for you. Only then can you connect on a much deeper level and establish a true friendship. Friendships happen when you share business experiences that you wouldn't otherwise talk about with others.

Share your personal MLM struggles and pains. Share your dreams and the reasons why you are building a business from home. Be a coach and a mentor to them and when the time is right, they'll ask you to sponsor them.

•The Perks and The Perils of The Unilevel Compensation Plan
The unilevel compensation plan is common in modern day network marketing. By and large, a unilevel compensation plan is a linear, whereby your income is directly proportional to the number of people in your organisation. By contrast to the stairstep breakaway plan, the unilevel plan is a very easy compensation plan to understand and explain. In companies with more complex compensation plans, you would start as a distributor and move up to Silver, Gold, Platinum, Ruby, Emerald, Diamond etc,...

•Why Limit Your Income Potential With The Matrix Compensation Plan
A matrix plan is any pay plan that has a fixed width and a fixed depth. If you're in a matrix plan you are limited by how many frontline distributors you can personally sponsor. While there's no limit to how deep you can go, you are only paid down to a certain level. Let's take a look at a 3 x 5 forced matrix plan, that is a maximum of three frontline distributors, paying down five levels deep. On the zeroth level is you. On your frontline (you first level) you can have up to 3 distributors,...

•The Gimmicks of The Binary MLM Compensation Plan
A binary compensation plan, as its name suggests is based on the number 2. A distributor in a company that operates a binary compensation plan can only build a downline consisting of two legs. A left leg and a right leg. That's correct, a binary compensation plan only allows you to have a maximum of two frontline distributors. Any more that you personally sponsor would have to placed underneath one of your two personally sponsored frontline distributors. This is another case of...

•Unrewarding MLM checks The sad truth of network marketing
A few days ago, I had a conversation with a lady who reached a very significant pin level in one of the largest and oldest MLM companies. She is no longer with this company, but her story is one that's not too uncommon within the MLM industry and should serve as a lesson to all of those who really want to live the MLM Dream. From the outside she and her husband had what you could call success. They were always on stage, speaking and telling inspirational stories at company events. Every week...

•How Some MLM Companies are Protecting Themselves By Putting Unfair Responsibilities On You
What's your responsiblity as a network marketer? Our goal, long term residual income, is our reward for helping other people become financially independent. It's the result of us developing leaders in our downline organisations who in turn, foster leaders in their own downline organisations. Network marketing is a leadership driven business. As such, you can only succeed when you lead by example. You cannot make your downline members do anything, as they are not your employees - they are...

•The 10K Question How many reps do you need in your downline
Have you ever considered how many people do you need in your downline to make $10,000 per month? Once you work this out, the answer to this question may surprise you. It may even anger you depending on how serious you are about becoming financially independent via network marketing. The real question is: how much does your MLM company reward you for bringing in revenue? The best compensation plan is one that will pay you the most money for the least amount of effort. So why do some...

•Which MLM Compensation Plan Is The Right One For You
When looking for a job, you'd look carefully at the job description to understand exactly what was expected of you, wouldn't you? You would make sure that you have the capabilities to do the job and that you'd be comfortable doing it, am I correct? After you've determined that you're the right person for the job, you'd probably want to know how much you'd be paid to do what you do best. This gives you options. You can compare several similar roles with different companies and weigh up which...

•Recruit or Retail Which creates sustainable MLM profits
Does your MLM company encourage endless recruiting? Or does it encourage you to sell its products to end consumers? Which is better? Recruiting or Retailing? A steady residual income in the long term requires a good balance of both. Passive income in network marketing is your reward for building a sales force or distribution channel where large quantities of your company’s product gets into the hands of many happy, loyal customers. Endless recruiting IS NOT a sustainable business model....

•Does Your MLM Company Give You Any Legal Ground At All
It really angers me that some MLM companies have their entire legal ground covered without giving an inch to you, the hard working distributor who builds the company. There are very few companies that have policies that both protect the company are are fair to the distributor. If an MLM company says in its policies and procedures that they can terminate you, for any reason, with or without cause, is there anything you can do if they decide to enforce that policy against you? Unfortunately...
