Why You Should Use a Carrier With Your Pouch Laminator

If you've been thinking about buying a pouch laminator, perhaps you keep seeing machines that don't require the use of a carrier. You may be wondering what such as thing is and why you would need to use one in the first place. This article will fill you in on all you need to know about these supplies - and why you should use one, even if your machine's instruction manual says it isn't necessary.

1.) What is this thing? A carrier kind of looks like a file folder. To use one, you place your document into the laminating pouch, and then place the pouch in the carrier. You can then run the item through your laminator. A carrier is typically included with every box of laminating pouches, although you can buy them separately if necessary.

2.) What's the purpose of these things? These supplies help prrevent your laminator from becoming gummed up with adhesive that may seep out of the pouch during the laminating process. The adhesive can damage your machine because the machine's rollers will become caked with the glue. This can cause your pouches to get wrapped around the rollers and stuck in the machine. This problem can be annoying and expensive, sometimes even resulting in the need for a whole new laminator. And you'll have to produce a whole new document as well.

3.) What other benefits do these supplies have to offer? In addition to protecting your laminator from damage, these supplies can ensure that your documents will look truly great. The carrier can keep your document flat and rigid, so it won't be affected by imperfections such as heat marks. Also, your document will be incredibly smooth and not affected by any bits of adhesive that may be on the machine's rollers. Plus, the carrier will protect your document even after it has emerged from the machine. It can prevent the item from becoming damaged from fingerprints and such while it's cooling off. So when your item comes out, just leave it in the pouch and set it to the side so it will look great after its had a chance to cool off.

4.) How much will this cost me? And how much time will this add to the process? Next to nothing, in both instances. After all, just about every box of pouches comes with a carrier. These supplies are also sold separately and a single one shouldn't set you back more than a few dollars depending on the size of it. And using one of these supplies will only add a few seconds on to your laminating time. It will take a lot less time than clearing a jammed pouch or dealing with a damaged machine, that's for sure.

As you can see, there are a lot of benefits to using a carrier during the laminating process. A carrier will help protect your machine (and possibly help you save some money). And it will definitely keep your document from getting stuck in the rollers, which will help you save a lot of time and aggravation. Plus, your documents are more likely to look fantastic. So this is definitely one situation in which you should ignore that instruction manual. You will be very glad you did.
