Redrow Hosting First Time Buyers Events In The North West This Weekend

First-time buyers are being invited to attend a number of events being held at Redrow developments in the North West of England and North Wales this weekend (12th and 13th November). The events are an opportunity for those trying to get on the property ladder to learn more about FirstBuy and easi:buy, two shared equity schemes that make a new home more affordable for them, and Redrow's Deposit Paid scheme.

"The majority of young people still dream of owning a home of their own, but many fear that without thousands of pounds in the bank they will be stuck at home living with mum and dad for several more years or will have to waste their hard earned cash on rent," says Anita Williams, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW). "We want to allay fears and offer all the help and support we can to get them moving. At our first-time buyer events we will be demonstrating to would-be homeowners how easy it is to find out about how much the mortgage will cost, with the help of our friendly team of mortgage advisers, and which property would suit their lifestyle the best."

The Government introduced FirstBuy earlier this year as a means of encouraging first-time buyers to purchase their own home but making the cash and borrowing requirements substantially less than they are on the open markey. With the scheme, buyers need just a four per cent deposit and a mortgage for 76% of the market price of the home, with the remaining 20% of the price provided in the form of an equity loan jointly by the Government's Homes and Communities Agency and the housebuilder. The loan is interest free for five years and needs to be paid back when the property is sold.

At Redrow's Hayes Green development in Cadishead, between Manchester and Warrington, FirstBuy is available on a selection of apartments and houses. A two-bedroom apartment priced at £118,995 can be secured with a deposit of £4,760 and a mortgage of £90,436. In nearby Altrincham, prospective buyers who are struggling to save a down-payment can take advantage of the company's Deposit Paid assistance scheme, where the housebuilder will gift up to five per cent of the property price towards a deposit on a home at The Willows at Stamford Brook. Prices start at £120,995 here, and FirstBuy is also available.

The Redrow team will be explaining the company's own easi:buy shared equity scheme at the event in Pentre Bach, its development of new homes in Wrexham, and at Water's Edge in the Hanley area of Stoke-on-Trent. In this case, Redrow allows the buyer to defer up to 15% of the purchase price for up to ten years. This equity loan is interest free for that time and can be paid back at any time during the loan period, or when the property is sold, whichever is sooner.
