Concrete Bollards

In some cases it is necessary to use concrete bollards to create a more secure and impenetrable barrier. In areas where very large forklifts, trucks, or service vehicles are passing through an area, a standard metal bollard may not provide sufficient resistance against an impact to fully stop its momentum. Not only do you end up losing your bollard if this should happen, but you also lose whatever the bollard was supposed to protect.

This can be very serious if hazardous chemicals or sensitive equipment are involved. More lightweight bollards can cave if hit with sufficient force. The resulting mess can result in thousands of dollars of lost revenue and possible liability if a safety hazard results from a hazardous material spill.

While it is possible to install concrete bollards yourself, it is better to have a professional install them for you.To prevent safety hazards and severe monetary loss, make your bollards permanent and firmly fixed in place by setting them in concrete. Bollards made for concrete infill are hollow on the inside and are longer than their standard equivalents. The extra length allows you to set them into a concrete floor without sacrificing the necessary height to form an effective barrier. The hollow interior allows you to fill the bollard with concrete to increase its strength and durability against impact.

Concrete bollards are manufactured with welded anchoring tabs that allow you to accurately position and align the bollard in a concrete floor or pavement. The end caps are removable to allow for convenient concrete infilling.

Pour in place bollards range in usable height from 24" to 48" and weigh between 44 and 88 pounds. Generally the larger concrete bollards are used for entrances and exits to docks to restrict vehicle traffic around gates and other access points. Smaller, pour on place bollards are excellent safeguards for protecting pallet racks, industrial storage racks, and shelving units located within the warehouse. Factories also occasionally use concrete bollards to form protective barriers around heavy machinery and heating/cooling pumps.

While it is possible to install concrete bollards yourself, it is better to have a professional install them for you. The process is time consuming and will cost more in downtime and lost hours than third party installation generally runs. If you order concrete bollards through a company, usually they will ship and install them all in one convenient, seamless process. We have used models available at discounts up to 40 percent and new bollards that can be shipped to your facility directly from us.

If you are uncertain as to whether or not your company needs the added protection of concrete pour in place bollards, do not hesitate to call an Easy Rack specialist for a free consultation on selecting the best bollard model for your particular facility.

•Portable Docks
Portable docks are steel platforms that are used with yard ramps in areas where there is no building or loading dock available. They are most commonly found in rural or remote construction areas, or where agricultural produce is being packaged in the field and shipped directly to market. While a portable dock can function as a standalone steel platform, it is more common to connect several units together to form the equivalent of a concrete dock that allows full fork truck functionality,...

•Edge of Dock Levelers
Buildings do not always have docks that match the exact height of trucks pulling into those docks. Over the years, trucks have gotten taller, averaging a height of 52-53” for standard beds and 54-55” for refrigerated beds. Older buildings can have docks as low as 45”-49” and require some sort of dock leveler to facilitate fork truck traffic from the dock to the truck. There are two categories of dock levelers that facilities use for this: pit mounted dock levelers and edge of dock levelers....

•Plastic Speed Bumps And Car Stops
