Can Vitamins Aid in the Treatment of Acne



As there are so many different types and different causes of acne, there are also just as many different treatment methods available that are used by people from all around the world. No one product or treatment program can work on all people either. In most cases, whatever treatment you do choose will need to be continually used to prevent and reduce future breakouts. Most people have mild cases of acne and can be effectively controlled with over the counter medications and products. Often these turn out to be very useful for many people.

There are other forms of acne that are the result of serious illness or disease and the best treatment for these cases are usually given under the guidance of a physician or dermatologist. Usually, people only consider the external methods of acne treatment such as the many topical creams available on the market but there are many other natural treatments available too that use healing vitamins. However, remember that there is no magic vitamin or mineral that can magically cure your acne. Certain vitamins can be a very useful addition to any other treatment you may currently be using.

Here's a small list of some of the more popular vitamins and minerals that are currently being used by other acne sufferers with positive results:

Zinc - Studies done on the zinc showed that it was quite effective for treating acne in some people but that it certainly wasn't a cure. It has been said by some people that it works better than tetracycline.

Vitamin B5 - This vitamin was once all the hype and was touted as an acne cure. It had been suggested that it was helpful if taken in very high doses. As with all things, too much of a good thing is not necessarily going to be beneficial for you and you could end up doing harm to your body in other ways. The reason why B5 was believed to be such a wonderful acne cure was because it helps create a chemical in the body called Coenzyme-A that helps break down fats so that they don't end up being stored in the sebaceous glands.

Vitamin E: This is a wonderful vitamin because it is an antioxidant which means it will give your immune system a boost and will add to the health of your body overall including your skin. It also helps to regulate Vitamin A which is also essential for healthy skin.

There are many vitamins and minerals that are essential to good health, both for the body and skin, but taking one of them without the others can lead to imbalances and even worsen your acne. A good measure to take is to buy a multivitamin supplement that will give you broad range of all the needed nutrients. This is especially for teenagers who have acne as their diets tend to be generally unhealthy and not very nutritious plus their growing bodies need all the nutrients they can get.
