Optimize Your Personal Training Session



Once you have hired a qualified and certified personal trainer, it's time to start training. You are paying for a professional service, so your personal trainer is there for you. Make sure you get the most out of every personal training appointment by coming prepared, taking notes, asking questions, and inwardly assessing your personal trainer after every session.

Show up early for your personal training appointment. Arrive at your workout in comfortable clothes,or give yourself a few minutes to change in the locker room. Warm up on a treadmill or stationary bike before the appointment, so that you aren't paying for the warm-up. If you have purchased bootcamp training or fitness training ensure that every moment counts.

If you think of any questions between sessions, write them down and hand them to the personal trainer as soon as you greet each other. If the questions aren't pertinent to that day's routine, tell them to get back to you on them. Try to obtain your personal trainer's contact info in case you come up with any questions before the next training appointment.

It never hurts to ask for anything from your personal trainer. You employed a personal trainer to get you in great shape not hurt you. If you are confused about any exercise, or if a certain motion doesn't feel right, speak up. Take lots of notes, and request pictures of new exercises with your camera phone. Do not let a personal training session end until you understand everything that took place.

Ask your trainer to demonstrate every move. View your personal trainer's physique in the mirrors so you can watch from different angles. Wear clothes that are comfortable but revealing enough to allow the trainer to see the alignment of your joints. If you are okay with your trainer touching you, let him guide your motions with his hands in appropriate positions.

Evaluate your trainer after every workout. Personal trainers are trained to train you when you run out of ideas for training yourself. If your personal trainer seems to be running out of ideas, it may be time for you to hire another trainer. Be frank with yourself and then with them about great training sessions and sessions that disappoint you. A good trainer will accept constructive criticism and improve, saving you the trouble of shopping for a new one.
