Everyone is prone to neck pain or back pain in one of their busy days. This pain is something which can be just erased with a few muscle exercises but on the other hand a recent study by the Partnership of a Drug-Free America in 2006 May has discovered most of the young aged teens/adults clinging to these narcotics drugs like Oxycontin, Vicodin or Lortab.The study further revealed the fact that many people considered narcotics as "much safer" drug than other illegal kind of drugs. This in turn persuaded them to think these drugs as harmless/ non addictive and that it was not wrong to take these drugs in any amount of doses. This has finally pulled these adults to the general group of "opiate addicts" and yes this addiction is the result of their ignorance about the true nature of the narcotics.
Opiate detoxification is the only option left to these guys who had unknowingly fallen into the trap of these drugs. Now it is not easy things yes the opiate detoxification and its 12 step programme to detoxify an addict from the drug requires the help of not just any rehab center .Only staff experienced to handle such cases can save such addicts from the grip of the addiction. This must not let the readers conclude that such opiate drugs are completely useless or poisonous ones. These drugs are of high usage and good result producing ones when used /taken in by patients in the prescribed dosages. A patient refers to those in severe health problems/pains and not people with a petty muscle cramp or leg pain.
It must be noted that narcotics have been used for many years to treat/relieve a patient from acute pain which are mostly short lived as well as severe due to the post operative suture pain or the type of chronic pain due to sudden accidents. It must be noted that taking any kind of pain medication is not a simple thing it must be done only after the concerned physician who has got a thorough knowledge of his/her patients' past medical history prescribes the intake of the dose amount of the narcotic drug. Opioids work promptly to relieve a patient's pain in two ways. At first they attach themselves to the surface of the brain cells, spinal cord and gastrointestinal tract and hence stop the transmission of pain to the brain. Secondly they effectively alter the sensation/perception of pain from the patient's brain.
Although the pain is present in the patient one can note that these drugs effectively alter the sensation and hence the patient is able to bear the pain effectively. This is a real boon for those who need treatment from chronic pains and it must not be altered/mis used by other common people for common pains. In case they do such thing the result is the complete addiction to the opiate drugs.
