Well, if you're new to internet marketing, you're no doubt being bombarded by promises of riches beyond your wildest dreams. I'm a believer in the internet being a path towards riches, however, not in the way that many would have you believe. It's true that the internet is creating more millionaires more quickly than at any time in history. The problem comes when you're logging onto your computer after putting in an 8,10, 12 hour day at the factory or at the office and you've got an inbox full of emails with subjects like, "You've Earned a Commission" or "Make 3K in Only 2 Hours". I've been there. And I know how tempting those offers are. I've personally spent well over 15K on trying out the latest and greatest gimmick or get-rick-quick scheme.
Let's stop and think about how people are making these outrageous claims. It's true that some people are able to make 3K in 2 hours, but the guys and gals that are pulling in this amount of money are the ones that have built HUGE email lists and have FAT pockets already. These are the internet "gurus". It's not that hard to make thousands of dollars in a few hours when you promote a new business to thousands of people on your list, especially when these gurus team up with each other and are the creators of these programs or are given first position directly underneath the owners. Most of these programs are simple 1 and 2 up programs with a few cheap e-books thrown in.
When you're thinking about trying to start a new business or if you've tried and failed at the get-rich-quick schemes like I have and want to find a long-term, legitimate online business that will turn into lasting residual income, stop falling victim to the "gurus". Plug into a proven, profitable system that has real products (not some e-book) and doesn't claim to make you rich in hours. The internet can (and will) make you rich, but only if you're dedicated and you choose to invest in a business with leaders that know how to build a legitimate business and if you're willing to put in some effort in exchange for long-lasting, residual wealth.
