If you do not know what an optin list is, here is a brief explanation. A permission-based optin e-mail list is simply a list of people that have requested information from you. These people have given you permission to send them e-mails. So, it is not spamming. It is simply communicating with people that want to hear from you. It is a very important that you understand that these people want to hear from you. They gave you their e-mail address. You cannot buy it, or you did not harvested. Okay, so let's get started and I will give you the three key components to building an optin list. 1. Autoresponder In order to build a successful optin list you need an autoresponder. An autoresponder is a service that will allow you to manage your opt in e-mail list. You can build a list without an autoresponder, but it is much easier to mail your list with a good autoresponder. I would suggest going with a third-party autoresponder. The reason is you want to make sure that your e-mails get delivered. Third-party autoresponder's focus on deliverability. Unless you are efficient in contacting ISPs and making sure that your IP address does not get banned then I would definitely go with a third-party autoresponder service. Aweber and GetResponse are great services to use for this. 2. Landing Page In order to build a list you want to send your visitors to a landing page, some people call these name squeeze pages. Basically, this page is going to force the visitor to either give you their e-mail address and name or leave. The best way to do this is to give away a free item in exchange for the visitor's information. I give away free videos and free reports. This seems to work very well. Actually, from my testing, free videos have proven to convert better. So, as of late I have been going with free videos. Basically, you want to give the visitor something of value in exchange for their name and e-mail address. This is how you ethically build an optin e-mail list. 3. Conversions Next, you want to focus on convergence. You want as many people as possible to give you their name and e-mail address. So, if you want to put together a name squeeze page that converts. Your goal is to get as many people to give you their name and e-mail address with the least amount of traffic. This way, you can focus on building traffic. The more traffic you build the more e-mail addresses you will get. This is huge in building an e-mail list fast. So, in order to do that you need to have a high converting name squeeze page In order to get a high converting squeeze page, you need to test. Test your headlines, your copy, the video or audio, and much more. If it is on your page I would test it. Once you have your page converting at an extremely high rate it is almost set and forget. All you need to do is continue to drive traffic to that site.
