As far as internet marketing is concerned, there are many profitable approaches. Of course, you should apply each of these steps, but in order to maximise your profit potential, you should also examine alternative approaches, such as Twitter. Twitter is a social networking website. Registration is free and once you've registered, you can search the site for other users and even become a 'follower'. This means that you can receive their messages, also known as updates or Tweets and they can do the same for you. You can search for contacts on the Twitter website based on name, location, or email address and also exchange contact information on online communities, like internet forums. All types of posts are permitted on Twitter, however, the majority of posts are social messages, not advertisements. This does not mean that you cannot use Twitter as an internet marketing tool. It means that you must take the cunning approach. Here are five such tactics: 1. Ask for other peopleâs opinion. With an advertisement, your Tweet may say âBuy golfing products at affordable prices.â This may work, but the chances are that most people will just see it for what it is, an advert! So, instead ask for feedback. Provide a link and ask your followers to look at the product in question. Do they think it could help them to lower their handicap, is the price reasonable? 2. Offer promotions. Even if you use affiliate links to produce income, you should be provided with promotional codes for money saving offers. Offer these to your members. For example, your Tweet could include the message âGolfing products available for sale with a money off discount for all my Twitter friendsâ. Yes, this is still an advertisement, but you are offering an incentive. 3. Host contests and Tweet about them. A great way to generate traffic to a website, including a website where products are sold, is to offer something free. Whether it be a free sample or a contest, people love free stuff. Instead of advertising a product you have for sale, highlight a contest on your website. This will get people to your online store. To boost sales, have your contest landing page filled with products. 4. Include personal messages in your advertisements. As previously stated, the use of promotional codes is a great way to not only escalate your sales and website traffic, but to generate interest. Instead of just saying âGet 50% off with this promotional code,â add a personal message. Mention you are extending the offer to your Twitter friends because you want to help them save money. This extra personal message goes a long way. 5. Use @replies. Mentioning the products you sell is alright to do on Twitter, but don't overdo it. Don't send 10 messages a day highlighting the products you sell. Instead, try one a day. Also, rely on the use of @replies. You can reply to those who send you updates or use Search.Twitter.Com. Only reply with a clever advertisement when the situation calls for it. The key to using Twitter as an internet marketing tool is to do so shrewdly. Most people who use social networking sites tend to steer well clear of advertisements, so try to disguise them as much as possible and make the reader think you're actually doing them a favour, not trying to sell them something.
