There are a range of different investment “styles” or “personalities” out there and many people will often change that throughout their lives. Cautious and Slow to Move Money. It’s something that everyone likes to have and definitely don’t like to lose. But as an investor, it’s important to remember that being too cautious can be just as damaging to your bank account as being wildly aggressive with your money. If you are scared to make a move on an investment and the worry plagues you day in and day out, it’s simply not worth it. And also, money moves fast, if you take too long to make a decision, usually the opportunity will be gone by the time you’re ready to commit. The best thing for you to do is put the money somewhere safe and forget about it OR let a professional manage the investments for you. Analyse This! Money and numbers, the two go hand in hand. The trap that a lot of uneducated investors fall into is that they are constantly pouring over every single detail to the point where they spend their days looking too deeply into the numbers, graphs and reports to really offer any value. It’s one thing to be prepared and know what is happening with your investments, it’s another story when you’re spending your days looking at information that won’t really assist in growing your investments well. The Planner While the other two investment personalities will give your grey hairs before your time, this particular personality means you to maintain a sain existence and grow your investment portfolio! People aren’t usually born with this type of personality – it usually evolves over time and with experience. If you’re “The Planner”, you’ll actually set goals for your portfolio, do the relevant homework and seek advice from the experts on a regular basis. You were probably one of the above personalities for a while, but snapped out of it once you realised that investing takes time, expertise and a business-like mind. An investment personality is something that changes with time and experience. Many investors will go through all of the above stages until they realise that investing isn’t rocket science when you have the right tools, knowledge and support to make informed and credible decisions.
