Real ID Act of 2005 is calculated to combat terrorism, ID theft, and other crimes by increasing the integrity of government-issued ID credentials. The law requires on states to put into practice a set of bare minimum national standards in many areas:. Information and security so-called-safeguards that must be built into each card. Proof of where you were born, date of birth, social security number, lawful citizenship, and primary living address. Verification of the source credentials provided by any person applying.
The statute demands somebody trying to come into a Federal structure, fly on an airliner or open a savings account to use the Big Brother recognized Real ID or a passport. It would also put every Real ID holder in a central database. Looks good, but the truth is that the Real ID annhilates on our privacy and invites hackers to steal personal information without making the country more safe from terrorists or deterring illegal immigration.
Regrettably, Real ID is a calamity waiting to transpire. Some have even said that it is a sign of the apocalypse. The initial estimated expenditure was $15 billion, it's been "condensed" to on the order of four billion (nothing for Big Brother's budget) by giving states greater flexibility in issuing driver's licenses to older Americans.
