Just because you have a membership site, it doesn't mean that anyone will automatically sign up for it. They need a reason to, or many reasons, and your marketing approach will help satisfy those requirements. You have to let people know what kinds of benefits they will receive by being members at your site. You must expressly state what kinds of benefits people will receive, and why those benefits are so important. So more than just an idea for a membership site, you need to think about what you will really be offering. How do you stand out from the crowd and what makes your program special? Think about the content you will provide, how you will fit into the market and what the benefits of membership with you will be. You have to make sure that people understand that the benefits you are offering are not to be missed out on. In fact, those benefits are things that people can't afford not to have. Your benefits have to be exclusive, enticing and important. Whatever topic or niche it is that you are serving, you have to provide directly relevant content about the issues involved. Your content is what ultimately will make or break you, and you need your content to be on point as much as possible. In every step of the process you want your membership site to be providing value. All of the content you have certainly provides value. A forum where people can talk with other members and with you provides value. Continual updates of fresh material makes your site valuable, and so on. The more value you have, the more reasons people will have to sign up. One thing you must work hard to do is to brand yourself and your website as an expert source of material. You don't just want to seem like some other guy, you want people to know that you can be trusted, that you're credible and that you know what you're talking about. You can work on this with your advertising and promotional approaches, as well as your landing pages. Don't forget that customer service is part of the overall experience. You want to let prospective members know that they can reach out to you. You want to be known as a hands-on guy, who is available for questions, help and advice. This can make a difference in many members' minds about what they think about your program. When you market your site to the public, you need to be able to clearly show what you are about and what the benefits of membership are. You have to show people the value that they can find and why you're better than anything else that's out there. First find out what your potential members will be looking for, then develop a brand that is the solution to all of their problems. Provide great value and benefits, and tell the world about them.
