Yet, it is also important to see some of the sites outside of Buenos Aires. In fact, it will help your studies to get out and relax a little. Don't miss exploring the beautiful and serene bucolic settings that the country offers.

One exciting trip that you can take when you study Spanish in Argentina is to visit the river El Tigre, which is actually quite near Buenos Aires. Simply proceed to the Retiro train station. You will find that this destination is just about a 30 minute ride by train from the city. The "Tigre" delta is named for the jaguar. This area has a variety of islands, inlets and water channels. But El Tigre is more than just a river. The town itself is a lot of fun with activities including kayaking, boat rides and an amusement park. There are also outdoor markets where you can buy a variety of interesting wares. You can purchase everything from food to clothing to household appliances for very decent prices. This is a good place to buy gifts for your loved ones back home.

If you decide to opt for a boat trip on El Tigre, keep in mind that it will take a good part of the day. There are both full days as well as overnight trips available. Also if you have a bit more money to spend, you can opt for a private boat tour. Most visitors find that they areas that they pass on this tour are extremely intriguing. For example, there are homes on stilts and so many residents need boats just to get around town. The people who live in the islands are called the "islenos."

You will find that as you travel north, the area becomes less populated. In this region, there are a variety of exclusive resorts. Madonna even traveled to a retreat in the Delta in 2008. There are gorgeous spas and private restaurants hidden amongst the islands.
