The Inherent Responsibilities of a Pet Groomer

For several reasons many of the pets sold today are pure breed. This raises the complexity level a notch, for responsible pet owners who wish to give their pet proper care. However, a large segment of the pet owner niche, still hold mixed breeds. Because of the condition of their pet, many people will label them with a status, in which they will be regarded as being of lower status, and not deserving all the medical and grooming attention a pure bred animal would receive.

A common mistake among pet owners in general, is the idea that a short haired pet is exempt from grooming responsibilities. As it is true that short haired pets will be exempt from tangles and hair knots, brushing and bathing is still a task that should be performed regularly. Brushing your pet is imperative for a healthy coat and lose hair removal, which would otherwise be left all over your home. Pets are also subject to the same climate and environmental conditions as people in their home. Humid or dry temperatures, the heater, or air conditioning systems, will have their effect on the animals skin. It may appear as dandruff at first, but dry skin may have other adverse effects in the health of your pet. It is essential for cats and dogs to maintain certain oils in their skin that prevent infection and other ailments, which if they where to disappear, it would have negative consequences in the health of your pet.

Pet owners are responsible for maintaining a balance in the health of the pet, through the use of a good diet, grooming their cat or dog properly and trough the use of vitamins if necessary. Whether you choose to handle it yourself, or hiring the services of a professional pet groomer, proper feeding and care are imperative you’re your pet’s well being.

Adequate grooming is not limited to the animal’s skin and coat. Foe people who live with a feline at home, some special attention will need to be given to the claws. The use of clippers and a scratching post is in order, or you are liable to lose much of your furniture. Some people choose to remove the nails entirely. Although your cat can survive on his bear paws, keep in mind that they will be completely defenseless in the street. Their claws are their primary weapons of self defense. A responsible cat owner will ask his veterinarian what choice is best, either to remove the claws, or include nail trimming in his scheduled grooming session.

Some families see themselves in a predicament of not wanting to spend the time of grooming their pet properly, nor do they want to incur in the expense of a professional groomer. One should never underestimate the importance of hygiene, and the consequences the lack of proper care may have on your cat or dog. Grooming is no pet game, and avoiding the responsibilities you have as an owner will most likely result in precisely in high medical and caring expenses you where trying to avoid in the first place.
