Panic Attacks A Dangerous Mental Condition

Panic attacks are a rather common problem , and still ,there are many people who are yet to hear that term. Most people are not really aware of the issue , and they often make mistakes when trying to identify the symptoms of panic attacks. It’s best to try and get more information before something like that happens to you, so that you are more informed about the potential risks, as well as the various methods of treatment for that particular problem.
Panic attacks are something that happens because of an instinct, or reflex that we inherited from our biological and evolutional predecessors. It’s called the fight-or-flight reflex, and it triggers abnormally big secretion of adrenalin when the individual feels endangered. It used to be the reason for many individual’s survival, back in the days where men were hunted by different predators, and they themselves needed to hunt in order to survive the harsh conditions of the wilderness. Being stressed for once, caused them to be more capable of preserving themselves, but that is hardly applicable in today’s world, since, let’s be honest, it’s not that common for people to be hunted down ,as it is for them to have to follow ridiculous deadlines.
Panic attacks are similar in symptoms to heart attacks – the elevated heart rate, the constant sweating and chest pain , combined with a feeling of extreme fear and being afraid of dying right that instant, on the very spot they’re standing are something that everyone who has felt a panic attack would recognize. Most people do experience at least one panic attack during their lifetime, which is clearly not a sign of a disorder, but if panic attacks become a regular event, you should be scared for your health.
The condition , in which the patient receives frequent panic attacks , which make it difficult for the person to lead a normal life is called panic disorder. Panic disorder is one of the most terrifying mental illnesses , because you never know when an attack will strike, and this can only make you more agitated and stressed, which in turn , causes the panic attacks to become more and more frequent, and your problems to deteriorate even further down.
The ways to treat panic attacks are many and different, and most times a person experiences frequent panic attacks, the first reaction of specialists is to prescribe medication. That may work for some people, but for many, it’s just a temporary solution for a limited amount of time, or precisely – the time it takes them to stop drinking the pills. In such cases it’s better for a person to try and visit a psychotherapist to see if that helps their condition. Some positive reinforcement or behavioral therapy can change the way you perceive the world around you, and may help you realize which things that you do or feel drive you towards having panic attacks more often than usual. This can be very crucial to your treatment.
