The people in general are very friendly and hospitable, and will advise you on the dishes that you should not miss out on, or indeed, where the best fishing is to be found.
The island of Krk is extremely popular among tourists searching for unspoilt islands and secluded beaches. However, the great thing about this Central European Island is that it is very well-connected to other European nations. The international airport of Rijeka is actually located on the northern part of the island, and services mainland Croatia via a spectacular bridge, as well as by ferry. Moreover, the distance between Krk and other Mediterranean countries is small. If you like, you could visit nearby Venice in Italy, or alternatively simply drive over to Vienna.
