A person experiencing depression is more likely to suffer from heart diseases and even from cancer. This condition can also have a large impact on your life, you might not be able to work and to communicate with other people effectively. For all these reasons you have to take timely measures once you experience the first symptoms of depression.

When you are depressed you feel down. It is not uncommon for any person to be sad from time to time, but when the feeling is persistent this is definitely a worrying sign. You may also feel totally hopeless and pessimistic about the future. A lot of people suffering from depression think that they are totally worthless as well. You might undervalue your skills and abilities. You may believe that you are not doing well at work. You are also likely to feel that no one needs you.

The feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness usually make the person lose interest in all the normal things in life considered to be recreational and fun. This only makes the problem graver.

When you suffer from this psychological condition you may also experience a large number of physical symptoms. The fatigue and constant sleepiness are the most common ones. You may feel down and exhausted all the time. You should also pay greater attention to the way in which you sleep. Most people with depression are likely to have sleeping problems and even insomnia.

Your back and neck pain may also be associated with this condition. You are more likely to suffer from headaches that are strong and persistent. You may also feel pain in your muscles and joints. This is another sign of serious depression that you should not ignore. Many people who are depressed experience chest pain especially when they are anxious. This symptom should be taken very seriously. It is best for you to have a medical check immediately.

If you experience any of the depression symptoms described above you should definitely seek the help of a professional therapist. Unless it is treated this condition can become extremely serious and even life threatening. Most of the physical problems can be treated relatively easily and quickly. However, you will need special treatment and support to deal with the emotional ones.
