Ibiza has long been a favourite on the holiday party circuit, with big clubs such as Pacha, Eden and Paradise drawing in thousands of ravers each year. But Lanzarote, one of the seven Spanish-administered Canary Islands, is fast becoming the alternative party destination of choice for holidaymakers.
Most of Lanzarotes nightlife is concentrated in Puerto del Carmen, one of Lanzarotes major resorts. When in Puerto del Carmen, head to Avenida de Las Playas or The Strip as it is also called to find all the best night spots. The avenue is lined up with hundreds of restaurants, bars and nightclubs such as Paradise, a favourite of British tourists. Discoteca RUMM is renowned for playing the latest Latino House Music while Café Ola presents a more chilled atmosphere. Head to Charlies to listen to local bands playing live music.
Puerto del Carmen also boasts a great selection of Irish pubs such as Murphys , The Dubliner and the Irish Harbour Bar, all famous for their live music nights. Other friendly pubs worth visiting are Titos Karaoke Bar, ideal for a night out with the whole family as well as Tropical.
In Arrecife bars and pubs have a more local feel. The best ones are located in Calle Jose Antonio and in the Avenida de Naos, where you will find La Naos, one of Lanzarotes trendiest venues. The adventurous tourist might try the famous caves of Jameos del Agua which turn into an unusual underground disco three times a week.
Whether you are into live music, karaoke nights or clubbing, Lanzarotes nightlife has something to offer for everyone.
