Tides Restaurant Barbados



When staying in Barbados whilst on Holiday even if you are staying in an all-inclusive resort you must visit Tides Restaurant. Tides Restaurant is located in Holetown (second largest town in Barbados) St James and situated right on the beach hence the name.

When you arrive you will be greeted by valet parking or if arriving in a taxi or a driven car your door will be opened by staff and you will be welcomed to Tides Restaurant. The entrance is a very traditional Barbados design, however the unique element is that the entrance/courtyard area is also an Art Gallery that is filled with local Caribbean art. All of the art is available for purchase and the Tides curator is always on hand to offer advice and history of the art on display, therefore not only culinary delight awaits you, you have the opportunity to take a little piece of the Caribbean home with you too.

When booking your table at Tides Restaurant please allow to arrive around 30 minutes before your meal to enjoy the bar area before dining. The bar offers table service and an extensive drinks menu that even an expert Sommelier would have trouble selecting a wine from as the wide range of wines and champagnes on offer is filled with variety. The service from the staff in the bar area is second to none; it almost feels like you have a Waiter all to yourself as they are so attentive. For the smokers among you, you can enjoy smoking in the bar area or in the Courtyard area, most people would agree as most of the restaurant is open aired, even the non smokers will not be uncomfortable in this relaxing area.

When you are ready to dine then you will be showed to your table by staff and taken out to ‘Treehouse area’. Nothing can prepare you for the beauty of the restaurant, situated on the beach with the sounds of waves crashing against the shore; it has to be considered a very romantic and luxurious setting. Once seated you will be offered drinks, supplied with bread and offered the menus.

Now onto the really important part Tides Restaurant menus! The variety of food at Tides is second to none and Tides offers a choice for all different types of food lovers. For example from the starters Menu you can have freshly caught Scallops on sweet potato mash with mango and beurre blanc, starters salads or tradional Caesar, seared spicy angus beef are also on offer or why not try Risotto with local lobster and wild mushrooms with a white truffle oil and lobster bisque. For the Main course there is a wide selection of locally caught fish (always worth taking a look at as on occasions offers delights such as freshly caught Mahi Mahi (dolphin), barracuda or kingfish, Chicken, Lamb or Fillet of Beef are on offer for the meat lovers. All main courses are served with a selection of grilled vegetables, rice or pasta etc depending on which meal you chose. The dessert menu always worth a look surely, again offers an excellent variety including delicious sorbets, ice cream, fresh fruit or something more indulgent if you fancy it such as chocolate mousses, coffee or toffee filled desserts. A wide range of coffees, dessert wines or liquors again is available is on request. An extensive vegetarian menu is also offered. However for the full sample menu please go to the website below. The waiter service should be considered fine dining and is always perfect.

To dine at Tides Restaurant in the evening then a minimum charge of $100 Barbados is applied which basically means you have to have two courses. The dress code is elegantly casual and no shorts or trainers are allowed. Dining starts at 6.30pm and they will generally accommodate a booking up to about 10pm. Visa and Master card are the only types of plastic accepted.

Whilst Tides Restaurant can be considered a very romantic restaurant don’t be put off by this description thinking that it will be filled with couples gazing adoringly at each other. Tides Restaurant can accommodate for parties large and small, families and children alike (however please note children under 10 can only dine at a 6.30pm sitting).

The service in the Tides restaurant is excellent and the surroundings are so beautiful you will be wanting to return to Barbados just to come back to Tides Restaurant alone.
