Beautiful Ski Resorts in Austria

The world has literally hundreds of millions of men and women who adore skiing, snowboarding and all kinds of winter activities. Skiing is seen as the most appreciated winter sport of them all, being favored by individuals of all ages, from all backgrounds: children, juveniles, grown-ups and even the seniors. Sure, some teenagers will probably want to use boards, many smaller children will choose to tackle the snow on toboggans, but, in general, skiing absolutely rules in winter sports, as well as amateurs are concerned.

And what a great activity it is! The feeling of slight unrest when you go up the ski track on the ski lift chair, the amazing scenery you see while ascending, waiting to arrive at the peak just like the thunderstorm waits in the clouds... and then, when you're finally "ready to rock", you throw one last glance at the imposing peaks around you, and off you go! You rapidly go down the curved slope, with nothing else to think of than you, the track and the snow you pierce with your skis.

Yes, this is a wonderful sport, and it's especially cool when you practice it in top conditions. And, although it sounds awkward, not every place offers the best conditions for ski lovers. But I would like to tell you about Tyrol, a federal state in Austria which is full of ski resorts that excel from this point of view, providing practically anything a tourist desires or has to have in order to relax during his or her ski trip. This part of Austria is especially desirable for ski lovers thanks to this reason, but this wouldn't be enough if there weren't the incredible Alps rising proud and high above the little, picturesque villages and towns. The Alps are on top of the list in lots of skiers' preferences, due to the fact that they are indeed wonderful exhibits of the power of nature. With peaks exceeding three thousand meters and large glaciers that have snow all year long, these mountains are a skier's paradise.

There are a lot of luxury resorts and hotels in the Austrian Alps, especially in the federal state of Tyrol, and, to be even more specific, close to the community of Kitzbuhel, which can be found 75 kilometers east of the medium-sized city of Innsbruck. It's in this place that "upper class skiers" decide to come, due to the fact that the resorts and the three-line ski tracks are wonderful, with great services, excellent facilities (spa, indoor pools etc). In the summer, these ski resorts become cool golf resorts, which is yet another attraction for business men and other rich people. Nevertheless, you will be surprised to find out that prices are quite moderate in this part of the country, particularly when somebody makes reservations in due time before his or her holiday.

Tens of thousands of ski lovers arrive there annually, and they all get back home with a large smile on their face. They all wish to go back there, and the majority of them do return the next year, because skiing is an activity that can sometimes get addictive. And it gets even more addictive if the best conditions are provided for everybody, and everyone enjoys their ski trip to the max.

•A Short History of Lahnstein
The urban settlement of Lahnstein is thousands of years old, yet, strangely enough, it wasn't a city until the sixties. How come, you wonder? Well, in 1969 two puny cities united into one, large city. The Oberlahnstein (Upper Lahnstein) and Neiderlahnstein (Lower Lahnstein) expanded enough to touch their borders, so the locals chose to merge.   The oldest hints of ancient dwellings date back to the Stone Age, believe it or not. It likely is one of the earliest found settlements in...
