Visiting The Taj Fisherman s Cove Hotel Chennai India

The Taj Fisherman's Cove gave us a terrific first impression, of cool, calm professionalism when we arrived.

Looking around we were initially impressed by the huge pool with swim up bar, the lush gardens, and our beachfront cabin.

The food was excellent, especially at the beach side restaurant, where the seafood was out of this world.

We were spoiled for choice with the breakfasts, there was food for all nationalities, from The English to Indian, and Japanese, you'd never get bored!!

We had a beach cabin with an outside shower, fantastic views out to sea, and a great sitting area to enjoy the views.

The beach was perfectly clean, and the sea didn't seem anything like as polluted as we had been told to expect. In fact the water was fine.

The longer we stayed, the more we felt that there was a slight degree of arrogance from the staff who were never impolite in any way, but they almost seemed smug. Having said that the service was excellent, although at times a little slow in the restaurants.

This is very much a 'children are welcomed hotel' at the weekends, so be prepared if you don't have any yourself for the descent of the masses, and I do means lot and lots. You could almost say overrun.

It also would be fair to point out that although everything was very clean, it was also quite dated. The bathrooms were almost antique, and on closer inspection the hotel definitely needs more than maintenance, it also needs updating, so that it comes up to the high levels of other Taj hotels we have stayed in. I suppose it is India, and it’s nice to feel just a little of the fading colonial grandeur!!

The hardest thing of all was to get a booking confirmed at The Taj Fisherman's Cove, but keep persevering because it is worth it at the end.

•Marari Beach Resort Kerala For A Vacation
The Marari Beach Resort in Kerala is in a superb, if a touch isolated location on a totally unspoiled beach about an hour south of Cochin. The hotel has been deliberately built to be eco friendly, has wonderful facilities and gorgeous self-contained villas with open-air bathrooms. If you can, stay in a pool garden villa as this had a walled patio for the pool and sunbeds with lovely plants and creepers against the walls. This gave the pool villas real privacy that they other villas did not...

•Long Bay Beach Resort And Villas Tortola
We booked at the Long Bay Beach resort a beachfront room which had a beautiful high vaulted wooden ceiling, a very large king sized bed, and a full length sliding glass door, so we had just the most beautiful views, and there was a cosy sun deck for us to sit on. The air conditioning worked well and we weren’t frozen as we have been in other places, and I can’t complain at all about how well we were looked after. We woke every morning to the sound of the sea, opening the curtains, and seeing...

•Visiting Shakespeare s Birthplace
Stratford-Upon-Avon must be one of the most visited places on the tourist trail in England. In the summer it can literally be awash with people, such is the popularity of Shakespeare’s birthplace. Of course it is little wonder owing to the aura that surrounds William Shakespeare, that this pilgrimage, because of course that is what it is should occur almost on a daily basis. What people need to understand is that the attractiveness of Stratford –Upon-Avon is not a recent occurrence. It was...

Nuwara Eliya is over 5000 feet above sea level and visiting there is like going back in time, in fact just getting there is an adventure in itself. We hired a vehicle, plus driver from our beach side hotel, and...

•Kowloon Shangri La Hotel
When you stay in the room with a harbour view, then you get a harbour view with a vengeance. I had forgotten how beautiful it all was, until at ten o'clock at night the baggage porter pressed the automatic button to open the curtains, and there the full majesty of night time Hong Kong island Wanchai district was exposed to us. Wakening in the morning the first thing we did was to sit up in bed as the curtains slowly opened, and we saw the busy harbour, boats, junks, and sampans rushing here...

•Indian Ocean Lodge Seychelles
The Indian Ocean Lodge is situated on the west coast of Praslin, and the hotel stands on a prime site on Grand Anse, the island's longest beach. The hotel nestles amongst mature Takamaka trees and colourful tropical plants just a few steps from the sea. The 32 rooms are arranged in eight separate units. Whilst we loved the Indian Ocean Lodge Seychelles on the island of Praslin, you have to be careful when you visit. From May until December because of the prevailing wind you may find the...

•Indian Ocean Beach Club South Of Mombasa Could Be Right For You
The Indian Ocean Beach Club is located on a powder white sand beach south of Mombasa, and surrounded by swaying coconut palm groves, and old baobabs. It isn’t the kind of hotel that is all too popular nowadays, all singing all dancing, disco, high rise, bland, huge, the could be anywhere type of place. The Indian Ocean Beach Club has been built to attract honeymooners, and romantics, and to recreate a sadly bygone age where service and opulence reigned. To an extent, they have succeeded,...
