The Secret of Article Writing Learn How to Make Your Article Sell



Numerous good authors write a lot of articles that are rich in content but unfortunately do not attract even a tiny portion of their traffic potential. This is rather unfortunate. When I did a little research in my article marketing laboratory on the traffic statistics of more than twenty thousand articles that have generated more than one million monthly page reviews, I discovered that even if the content of different articles are similar for the most part, what actually distinguishes a traffic generating (best selling) article from one which is not is the title.

If you are thinking about best traffic generating titles in the light of best seller book titles, you couldn’t be further from the truth. While in the real (offline) world, headlines and book titles determine close to hundred percent what the success of an article or book will be, the game is different with article marketing on the internet because articles on the internet reaches its readers in a different way from how books in the real world reaches its readers.

It is often believed that people will read your articles because they go online to search for articles of their choice just as one goes to a book store to buy a book of his choice. This is a fallacy; the truth is that majority of people use major search engines to search the internet making use of keywords (up to 5) that are related to their subject of interest. The search engine then produces results based on they entered keywords.

The goal of any article writer is to have his articles show up for in search results for keywords and topics that are best related to the content of his article. There is no other way to achieve this than to believe and make the best use of this truth about creating the right titles and building traffic: the first three to five words in your article’s title will determine how much traffic your article will attract and direct to your website. To be successful, your article title should be rich in keywords commonly used to search for the content of your article.

How can one determine the right (and rich) keywords to use for your article?

A keyword research tool is of utmost importance. You can get some for free while you need to pay for others. You can obtain the results of searches with the Yahoo search engine from their directory by making use of a well known keyword research tool by Overture. For Google, you can make use of a tool called “Google Suggest”.

It really does not matter whether you decide to use a web based search tool or a more advanced application for keyword research, what is very important is that you know how to conduct your search.

This example shows the difference between a keyword-rich title and one which is not:

Bad type of title: "Top 8 Ways You Can buy Fractional Jet Ownership”

Good keyword-rich title: Interested Fractional Jet? - 8 Strategies when you need to acquire your dream Private Jet

Why is the second title more effective? It is because the first 3 words are more likely to be used in searches unlike “top”, “9”, or “ways” as used in the first title. I used private jet in my title because upon research, I discovered that people who look for “fractional jet” also look for “private jet”. So I combined both keywords so that I have a better chance attracting more readers (i.e. generating more traffic)

Two things to avoid

1. Do not make your title hard to understand (by search engines). Avoid the use of quotes, tildes, asterisk or other symbols.

2. Do not use rich keyword-rich titles that are unrelated to your article. You will definitely get busted.

Finally, it pays to master keyword research so that you can create rich and relevant, and intelligent titles. Doing this gets you rewarded with huge traffic to your article and website.
