The thing with internet marketing is that it is a changing battlefield. Five years ago email marketing was king, the one strategy where internet marketers profited the most and yielded the highest ROI. But that was five years ago. Anybody who knows his or her way around the internet these days will tell you email marketing is still somewhat effective, but not as much as it used to be. Simply put, the terrain has changed. This means internet marketers must be adaptable and quick on their feet if they want to survive in this business called online marketing.

An internet marketer must be ahead of the times. It is his responsibility to predict which internet marketing strategies will dominate in the next couple of months and which strategies will bite the dust. This is the only way to come out on top of the competition, and the competition in the internet marketing industry is pretty intense. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there and the only way to survive is to figure out what works and what doesn’t before everybody else.

1. Search Marketing
The keyword here is Google. How many companies and how many corporations out there want their websites to rank highly on Google? Everyone, just about. Ranking highly on Google’s search engine says a lot about your internet marketer and you should be paying him generously for his genius methods.

Internet marketing strategies that fall under search marketing includes search engine marketing (SEM) and search engine optimization (SEO).

2. Out Bound Marketing
Out bound marketing is about spreading the word about your business or website through direct channeling and pull techniques when users are asked to subscribe. Out bound marketing is extremely effective when used right but can backfire if mishandled by an inexperienced internet marketer.

Internet marketing strategies that fall under out bound marketing includes Really Simple Syndication (RSS), invasive marketing and email marketing.

3. Corporate Website
The corporate website is the basic, most fundamental step you must take if you want to enter the realms of internet marketing. The basic idea behind a corporate website is to serve as a portal for people to view information about your website. Most corporations these days have at least one corporate website attached to its name.

Internet marketing strategies that fall under corporate website includes interactive web marketing, regionalization and portal strategy.

4. Virtual Worlds
